Service Description

Pottery 2: Advanced Clay Studio is designed for students who have prior clay experience and are ready to refine their skills in a more focused studio environment. This class builds on foundational techniques while introducing more advanced hand-building and wheel concepts, emphasizing craftsmanship, form, and function. Students will explore complex forms, lidded vessels, functional pottery, and sculptural elements while learning how to strengthen structure, improve consistency, and problem-solve through the design process. Instruction will include surface design, texture, carving, and glazing techniques, helping students understand how finishing choices elevate a final piece. Creative independence is encouraged as students begin developing their own ideas, working through sketches, prototypes, and revisions. Emphasis is placed on patience, attention to detail, and studio habits such as proper clay handling, cleanup, and kiln awareness. Pottery 2 supports artistic growth, confidence, and technical mastery while maintaining a supportive and inspiring atmosphere. Each session challenges students to think like ceramic artists—planning, creating, refining, and finishing work they can be proud of. All materials and firings are included.
